Charter for the Self-employed

The RSA have launched a Charter for the Self-employed, containing 8 practical policy ideas designed to improve the living standards of people who work for themselves.

These include: redesigning Universal Credit, introducing automated saving schemes, mandating equal treatment under the Work Programme, and establishing a new form of pension auto-enrolment.

In addition research reports from the RSA contain several other proposals for consideration.

To accompany the launch of the Charter, the RSA have also created a short animation which explores the enduring (and often hidden) importance of privilege in the world of entrepreneurship, and the challenges faced by the less affluent when trying to start a business.
