Developing a Support Network for Community Wellbeing Roles
Your role and responsibilities are important.
You and your personal wellbeing are important.
Based on feedback from the 2022 Being Well event, this April the Worcestershire VCSE Alliance hosted a meeting for people in community wellbeing roles to share experiences and discuss future support. Over 40 people attended included lifestyle advisors, social prescribers, community health connectors, and mental health link workers.
Two important needs were highlighted at the meeting:
- Personal and professional development were aspects described as vital to enhancing individual wellbeing and job satisfaction.
- Making time to step back, slow down and off-load with peers were actions described as vital to maintaining personal wellbeing.
In response to this, the Alliance has developed two new meetings for community wellbeing practitioners:
- ‘Quarterly Get-Togethers’ for networking and CPD. The first was hosted in July with guest speaker Harriet Brown talking about housing in Worcestershire. Look out for her presentation which will be loaded onto the Worcestershire Alliance Website.
- Informal ‘Monthly Check-ins’ – an opportunity to chat with peers about what is going on for you. Carole Cumino hosted the first of the check-in sessions in July which was attended by 12 participants and proved really helpful to all.
Check out the website for future dates of both meetings, or contact Kay for more information on how you can engage with the Worcestershire Alliance on kay@worcsalliance.org.
