Launch of the Care Quality Commission’s annual State of Care Report

This report gives the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) perspective on the state of health care and adult social care in England in 2013/2014.

Overall, the CQC have found some outstanding care and rated many services as good. However they have also found services that are inadequate or require improvement. The CQC advise that in their view, the extent of the variation in the quality and safety of care in England is unacceptable and their report challenges health and care providers in England, commissioners and oversight bodies, to deliver the high standards of care that everyone has a right to enjoy.

The CQC are also calling on the public to use their ratings of services to make informed decisions about their care and the care of those close to them and to become more demanding of those who should be acting in their interests.

The State of Care report can be downloaded here and the launch event will be streamed live on 21 October 2014 at
