APPOLO COMMUNITY SUPPORT CIC

We are a non-profit community interest company, we strive to bring about positive change and make a difference in people’s lives. Our primary focus is on providing meaningful intervention through activity support to older individuals who are confined to bed or house or wheelchair users. By promoting their well-being and mental health, we aim to create a stronger community for all, thereby removing isolation and loneliness and thereby encouraging participation.

Our project aims to reach out to elderly individuals who may be experiencing frailty and are unable to partake in community activities as they once did. Furthermore, we aim to support those who are facing declining physical abilities and require assistance, as they may no longer be able to actively engage in social settings.

Our clients can be in nursing homes or in their own homes. Activities will be decided upon after an initial “Getting To Know You” chat has taken place. A timetable of activities will be agreed upon with you for either one or two hours. You will be supported by one of our handpicked volunteers to support you to take part in the agreed activities and add some value to your time together by supporting you with practical tasks such as cleaning, preparing a fresh meal, helping you manage your affairs such as contacting others on your behalf, or just dealing with day to day tasks.

For all our activities, we use a person-centered approach to support our client. The activities range from having a movie night, solving a puzzle, crossword, or quiz, learning a new language, light exercise, playing ludo, singing and dancing, tridomino, presenting small gifts to make them feel special on their special event, engaging in arts & crafts, singing and many more.

Appolo Community Support provides online sessions such as book club and follow-up discussions, poem writing, and supports client to get involved in volunteering, and even to teach others with their skills.

We aim to create a stronger community to combat loneliness and make our clients happier and able to remain in their homes as long as possible.
