CANAPE

CANAPE stands for Choosing A New And Positive Employment.

We are a  Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation and we work with vulnerable young people aged 16-24 who have offended in the past.

We offer three services at present:

  • Trauma Therapy
  • Emotional Peer Mentoring
  • Voluntary work experience in our catering social enterprise.

Young people need to rid themselves of a negative past before they can look forward to a more positive future

We work with some of the most isolated and vulnerable young people. There are not enough supports in place to support them when they come out of prison, and employment is the second highest reason that prisoners cite as the barrier that led to them re-offending and being sent back to prison.

We want to prevent our young offenders from re-offending by offering them more positive options for a better future, where we give them some of the tools that they need to help them get full time employment in the future.

Our new training kitchen is due to open in June 2015 where we will be launching a few new initiatives and we are on the lookout for new catering opportunities within around an hours travel from Lanark.
