Coaching with a Difference

People with learning disabilities and differences experience life in their own very individual way, and this can lead to difficulty in communication, self-expression, building relationships and can often present as challenging behaviour.

I have several years experience of working with people who have learning disabilities and I’m one of the few coaches who delivers specialised services.

My person centred approach to coaching people with learning disabilities can include planning and implementing a desensitization program to help people manage changes and new experiences, as well as intensive interaction to enhance communication with families and carers. This coaching approach is suitable for people with a variety of needs.

In the case of people who require support, I work alongside parents or carers because their knowledge of the client  is essential to the success of any program. It’s also important to share skills and techniques with the people who are central to the life of the client so that they can continue to build confidence and communication long after the program has finished. Each session will include feedback and idea sharing with parents and carers.

Coaching programs will be tailored to individual situations. Please contact me to discuss your specific needs.
