Dance4u

Dance4U provides therapeutic dance sessions tailored to meet the needs of individuals with physical and psychological disabilities. Sessions are facilitated within community settings and online. Classes aim to assist in the development of students’ physical, social, emotional and psychological wellbeing, whilst encouraging self-esteem, autonomy and freedom of expression. Dance4U Dance For All!

Emily at Dance4U has over 10 years of dance teaching experience working alongside all different populations from old to young within a range of different settings, she has a BA Degree in Dance and a is a qualified Dance Movement Psychotherapist registered with ADMP.

Within sessions emphasis is placed upon what works best for the individual by using a humanistic approach, the aim is to have fun, gain confidence, develop performance skills and self-esteem, autonomy, fitness, stamina, flexibility all whilst acquiring a new skill in dance.

What we cover;

Community Dance 

Adults with additional needs held at; The Newman Centre, Boldmere, Birmingham, B735UY

Adult Dance & Drama is BACK! For adults with additional needs

Workshops 

We come to YOU!

We offer workshops for your day care or rest bite centre, whether it be a themed day or you’d like your clients to try something different we can design a day to suit your preferences.

Schools

Hire our services to provide performing arts lessons (Dance or Drama) in your School. Perhaps your looking to incorporate it into the curriculum or you’d like to provide extra curriculum activities during school hours or after.

 

Online Sessions

Ensure you have a device whereby your able to access skype
Make sure you have a safe, comfortable space either in the house or the garden!

Online Dance Sessions One-to-One and Groups last between 30minutes and 1 hour, prices vary

We’ll start with a check in ‘how we feeling today’ ‘what would we like to learn’ what song shall we learn a dance too? (this may be done in advance if necessary). Checking in is just as important as moving, I aim to ensure mental well-being is being acknowledged as its highly important during a time of isolation!
I’ll then move onto a warm-up
Learn choreography- at least two different dance styles, adding on new moves each week
The individual is invited to develop their own choreographic skills by inventing their own moves to add into the dance
Cool down

Dance Videos- Length of video & Price vary upon request

A dance video can be created and sent to an individual upon request, this allows for :

-More flexibility with time

-Something to keep and continue to learn from

-Pause and Play at your convenience
