Fusion C.I.C.

Fusion C.I.C. is an inclusive and co-produced initiative which was founded in 2014 as a result of the very successful ‘Fusion @ Cafe Stella’ Club Night’s’, and is a collaboration between the leaders of two  local Community Interest Companies in Wigan –  Justin Fellows from ‘Just BU’ and John White from Every1 Wigan.

In 2013  a service user from ‘Just BU’ requested that a one off ‘Club Night’ be held in Leigh Lancashire, a night for the over 18’s with any disability, enabling them to get the ‘Night Club’ experience but in a safe and friendly environment along with family members as well as carers.

As soon as the tickets went on sale it was immediately clear how much a demand there was for this type of event, so Justin and John immediately booked another night for the following month. Again there was a fantastic response with everyone asking when the next event was.

These Club Nights have been held at Café Stella in Leigh, whose owners have been 100% supportive and they agreed to support our events now to be held on the last Tuesday of the month and so ‘Fusion @ Cafe Stella’ was born.

Our Club Nights are put on by a small team of volunteers who help by selling tickets, passing out flyers and helping on the night. Each month a service user has the opportunity to be a ‘Guest DJ’ playing their own selected music to their friends and family.

Enquiries from family members and other service providers highlighted the demand for other related events and services that we could provide, so Fusion C.I.C. was then founded.

Fusion C.I.C. now has a wide range of available activities which include afternoon disco’s for the under 18’s which can be taken into schools and colleges.

Being a member of team Fusion provides an opportunity to have your input into the choice of theme nights, ticket and flyer design, as well as the checking and selling of tickets on the night.

Later in 2014 we hope to be launching our live radio broadcasts in partnership with community radio station ‘Wigan FM’. These will be planned and presented by a team of people with and without a disability, and will include a wide variety of music as well as discussion about issues that are important to them and interviews with local people who feel they have something to contribute.

These are just a small example of the services available, however if there is anything you feel we can put on for your group, either as a regular event or a one off, please feel to contact Justin or John and we will be glad to chat through the options available
