Garage Art Group
Garage Art Group is a small registered charity established in 1998 and we offer art groups to all. You do not have to be good at art to enjoy the social aspects of our groups in a safe and friendly environment.
We promote health and well-being through the mediums of painting, drawing, textile and other visual arts.
Our inclusive art groups are held twice a day from Monday to Friday for all members of the community, including people recovering from mental health problems, people with learning difficulties and/or special needs and people suffering from a low point in their lives. We are also open to members of the general public.
Some of our aims are to enhance the confidence of students through a sense of achievement. We use art as a vehicle for developing people’s life skills and coping strategies, and we work towards enabling people to be more independent and have control over their everyday lives.
We aim to break down social barriers and stigma relating to our core client group, and through social interaction we work to develop group skills via mutual support for one another, working in a co-operative way.
The Garage Art Group has built up an excellent reputation and receives referrals from the Community Mental Health Team, Social Services, Onside Advocacy and Life Links, and Occupational Therapists.
Please do get in touch if you would like to find out more. From beginners to accomplished artists you will be sure of a warm welcome.
