High Strive Wellbeing Hub CIC
My name is Anthony and I decided to open High Strive, a hub for people with mild to moderate learning disabilities and high functioning autism after the centre where I worked previously, was closed down along with many others across the county during the Covid lockdown.
We offer a service where people that we support can come along and feel safe, doing the things that they enjoy with like minded people and making life long friendships along the way. We understand that it can be difficult to forge new friendships and so the hub offers people the time and space to do this. We recognise how important it is to have a friend network around you. From our experience, we know that lack of friendships outside of the family network and isolation is a big factor in people with learning disabilities where their confidence and self-esteem suffer greatly which can lead on to greater anxieties and depression. Nobody feels alone here at High Strive.
Our service is user-led which means the people that we support have a major input in how our service is run and what activities we do.
Some of the activities that we do from the hub can range from going for a coffee in town with friends, shopping, visiting museums, crazy golf, sporting activities, games club, board games, cooking lessons, crafting classes, computer gaming, exercise classes, walks, theatre trips, cinema and pool sessions. If people have something that they want to try out, if it’s possible, we will set it up.

I have been through the Community Catalysts programme in Worcestershire - 20/01/2023 Community Catalysts runs a local development programme in the area where this entrepreneur is operating that offers help, advice and support to local people. As part of this programme this enterprise/venture has signed up to the Doing It Right Standards.
