Learn to Sew Glasgow offers fun and inspiring craft sessions to people living in care homes and residential homes.  We use sewing, dressmaking and other traditional crafts to enhance and bring joy to the lives of vulnerable adults and children.

Our sessions make traditional crafts accessible to all and offer the possibility to learn new skills or revisit old ones, helping to boost self-confidence and motivation. Creative activities like sewing, crotchet and knitting encourage communication and social involvement and will leave each of the people we work with feeling inspired and empowered.

All necessary equipment and materials are provided, giving all participants the opportunity to create beautiful handmade items. Each session is planned with consideration for each individual person’s abilities, needs and wishes and may involve; making personalized items/soft furnishings to help residents feel more at home, assisting residents with alterations/repairs, making gifts for relatives, creating community quilts and many other projects.

We are able to work with people with a range of needs including, older people, people with dementia, people with mental health needs and people with a learning disability.

The maximum class size is four people so that they can be given full attention and help where necessary. Sessions generally last 2 hours and cost £60 however this is dependant on individual needs and requirements. Once these have been discussed we can confirm a price. We also offer one to one sessions for those who cannot take part in group sessions. The cost of a one to one session is £20 per hour.
