Move Dance More
Hi, I’m Mel and I have been teaching in the dance and fitness industry for over 20 years with industry-recognised qualifications in authentic dance, exercise to music, and older adult fitness.
I have a great passion for dance and love sharing it with others! Teaching authentic dance that can be adapted from standing to seated or standing with the support of a chair provides a fun and inclusive way to increase activity levels and stay active, engage in social activity with others, and does wonders for our well-being that if I had a magic wand I would bottle it and pass it around the world!
SOSA Dance is a simply choreographed adult dance class. Solo dancing learning fun and authentic dance routines that incorporate different dance styles from all around the world so there is something for everyone to enjoy whatever your experience or ability. Having such a variety of dance styles provides a great way to disguise the functional movements that help build our strength and improve our balance and cognitive function.
Seated SOSA & Supported SOSA is SOSA Dance … just in or with a chair! It is a fabulous way for people to build their confidence by becoming more active and you’ll be having way too much fun to realise that you are improving your strength and balance which will help to reduce the risk of a fall. Classes are suitable for older adults with long-term health conditions, limited mobility, or anyone looking to become more active in a fun and engaging way through chair movement and dance.
Dance for Dementia combines music with fun and engaging seated dance movements providing numerous advantages for people living with dementia. Sessions are uplifting and a lovely way to capture nostalgia, provide cognitive stimulation, and encourage movement with plenty of singing along the way for some good all-round fun.
I am currently running SOSA Dance classes in and around Midsomer Norton & Wells but I can also help you 1:1 or I can support groups or associations by running independent sessions or providing support with new or existing projects.
Looking after our health and well-being is priceless. Please let me help you on your journey to a happier healthier life and I will do all I can to keep you smiling.
