Music24

Music24 is a charity working across Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire we are here to offer a number of opportunities to people wishing to explore their musical ability and engage in a fun and creative way.

We currently have two HPCP registered music therapists working with us who can offer one-to-one sessions.  We also have three community musicians/co-facilitators that work on our outreach projects.

Music24 aims to offer high quality experiences to all of the people we work with and provide opportunities for meaningful and engaging music sessions that inspire and motivate all that attend.  Collectively we have experience of delivering a range of interactive sessions to people with a wide range of different needs including:

  • learning disability – mild, moderate and severe
  • physical disability, including restricted movement conditions such as Muscular Dystrophy
  • conditions on the autism spectrum
  • sensory impairment, including deafblind
  • mental ill health
  • dementia, including early on-set dementia, Alzheimer’s,  Huntingdon’s Disease and other forms of dementia
  • acquired brain injury
  • end of life
  • other life-limiting conditions

Please do have a look at the information provided below on the benefits of music therapy and get in touch with us if you would like to know more.

The benefits of music therapy as outlined by The British Association of Music Therapy:

Music therapy can help with: – developing a clearer sense of identity and autonomy; increasing self-esteem and confidence; encouraging greater integration with other people and the community; increasing skills and abilities in communication and interaction with others, thereby reducing the need to use behaviour as a way to communicate distress or frustration; facilitating personal and emotional development by supporting the expression of difficult feelings and emotions; increasing the ability to reflect on, and process feelings.
