S.T.A.R.S Day Care Centre Worcester
We are an independent and family-run community based social enterprise offering ad-hoc, short or long term day care to people with a range of needs and their carers. We work with older people, people with a learning disability, people with dementia, people with Parkinson’s, and any other adult who feels they need extra support or social interaction.
S.T.A.R.S Day Care Centre Worcester grew out of our own personal experience of the difficulties faced when caring for loved ones. We hope that we can help others to avoid the difficulties and problems that we faced when caring for relatives, so that they can continue to enjoy a home life amongst family.
Being family run, we are passionate about bringing a sense of family into everything that we do. As well as our own personal experience of care, we all have experience of working in the care sector, both within the NHS and in private care settings.
All of our activities are designed to promote positivity and maintain functional ability and identity for each individual person we work with, allowing them to claim back their independence, confidence and self-esteem. We believe the service we offer is more social therapy than day care; innovative and proven to work, offering excellent value for money.
We are based in Worcester, an easy walk from the town centre, in a modern, spacious and airy environment.
We Care for the Carer
Part of our philosophy is that the carer also needs to relax, but not necessarily away from their loved one or their own home, so we welcome carers (at no additional cost) to stay with us and relax, or have the house to themselves, while we take responsibility and look after their loved ones for the day/morning/afternoon.
Drop and Shop
We also cater for the ad-hoc need to look after the cared-for while the carer goes off to shop or carry out other tasks and do so in the knowledge that they can rely on us.
Bored and Lonely?
For older people who are mobile but isolated in their own home, we provide a stimulating social environment that fosters a sense of enjoyment and belonging and banishes the loneliness and boredom that can lead to a reduced quality of life.
We strive to make our day centre a familiar and friendly place, and a real home from home, by getting to know your loved one as you know them. To achieve this, we encourage you to come in and talk to us, so that we can identify personal wishes and needs and therefore tailor the day as far as possible, to each individual.
Please do get in touch, or call in and see us for a friendly chat if you would like to find out more.
