Seed of Hope

Seed of Hope is a social and therapeutic horticulture group for people with mental health problems, and we also run a group for people with dementia and their carers.

We use these elements intrinsic to gardening to help people change:

  • Being outdoors-in nature with increased light levels.
  • Gentle exercise.
  • Working as a team to shared goals.
  • Nurturing living things.

The changes that these elements can help bring about are:

  • Reduced anxiety
  • Reduced depression
  • Improved feelings of well being
  • Reduced Stress
  • Better Physical Health
  • Improved diet
  • Increase in attention
  • Improved concentration
  • Weight loss
  • Less social isolation

We are based in the Walled Gardens of Cannington. Which is part of Bridgwater College, and participants also have an opportunity to gain a Level 1 qualification in Practical Horticulture Skills if they want to.
