Stepping Stones Supported Services

Stepping Stones Supported Services is a newly emerging and family run micro provider with exciting plans to develop a new service in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire for young people aged 16 plus who are living with autism, including Asperger Syndrome, or a mild to moderate learning disability.  We have decided to set up our new service because we recognise that when a child with such needs leaves full time education, there is often very little follow-on support for both them and their families.

We are a family with many years’ experience of foster and shared lives caring for people living with autism and Asperger Syndrome ourselves. This has played a big, and very rewarding, part of our lives and we believe we can use our lived experience to offer something very special and to make a real difference to people’s lives.

Our new service will offer a very wide and diverse range of centre and land based daytime activities and development opportunities all aimed at supporting young people to develop personal, educational and life skills which will help with their successful transition to adulthood.

We will encourage all of the young people who use our service to take part in activities which will help promote their own independence as well as enhancing their inclusion within the local community. Our main focus will be on holding daily life skills sessions which will be aimed at all aspects of independence.

In addition, there will be opportunities to develop new or existing skills and interests such as basic cooking, photography, arts and I.T. activities.  For the more able young person we will be able to focus on areas such as budgeting, Road Safety, opening a bank account, and time management – all the essential basic life skills needed for someone to become independent.

We have daily access to a large nearby field, which will enable us to offer outdoor sporting activities and other outdoor activities such as animal care, horticulture, and we will also be in a position to offer outdoor camping facilities giving the opportunity for the young people who use our service and their families to camp overnight.

We will also be happy to hold evening and weekend sessions and be flexible to the needs of working families where required.

Transport can also be arranged where needed.

Should you wish to know more about our service, please feel free to contact a member of our team on 07709 134 203 or 07738 434 203.
