Welcome to Sunflower Support

My name is Liz, I’m 42 and I have over 15 years experience of working in health & social care in a variety of settings. I decided to become self-employed after nursing my Dad at the end of his life until he finally passed from cancer. Sunflowers were his favourite.

Being self-employed allows me to be more flexible in the type of support I provide you, so you can choose what suits you at times that you want. What I love about my job is the people that I meet and the moments that we share together, no two days are the same. If I can help you to have a better day and bring a smile to your face then my work is done. Leading with compassion, kindness and understanding I aim to provide a service that allows you to get the most out of life. Singing and dancing are most definitely allowed!

The services I can offer you include:

-getting out and about, exploring the local area, for gentle exercise or meeting up with friends.

-attending appointments/collecting prescriptions

-shopping

-light housework and gardening

-meal planning and cooking

-pet care/dog walking

-help to maintain contact with friends and family and enjoy hobbies & social activities

-company at home doing the things you enjoy

-sitting service to allow your loved ones to have a rest

-overnight service

I work in and around the Taunton area so please do get in touch for a friendly chat to find out more about how I can work with you or your family member.

Over the years I have enjoyed working with the elderly both as a community based carer and in nursing/residential homes, I have experience of working with individuals with dementia and memory loss, sensory loss, stroke, Parkinsons, MS, MND, physical disabilities, learning disabilities, autism and challenging behaviours.

I am DBS checked & insured and have Level 2 Diploma (NVQ) in Health & Social Care. I have completed many training coursesĀ  and refresh my training regularly. These include Health & Safety, Emergency First Aid, Food Hygeine, Safeguarding Adults, SAfe Administration of Medication, Infection prevention and control, Dementia, Epilepsy, Moving & Handling, Autism Awareness & Positive Behaviour Support.

I am also a qualified Holistic Massage Therapist (Level 4 Dip, MTI) and I am happy to offer hands on therapy to any of my clients at a reduced rate. Sometimes a little hand or foot massage can go a long way to easing tension, allowing you to relax and unwind. After all we all need a little TLC.

*I have received the Covid-19 vaccination, take tests twice weekly and follow all recommendations regards wearing PPE.
