Hi! Allow me introduce myself, my name is Sophie Mager and Surround Day Services is my new and independent local support service for children and adults with a learning disability in North Somerset and the surrounding areas.

Our Service is independent of local authorities.  We support people to identify their needs and aspirations and help them to devise a plan and choose services to meet those needs and achieve their goals.

Surround Day Services provides day to day support in and out of the community that respects the service users’ preferences and choices, enabling the service user to participate in the life of their community as valued citizens. The service user is encouraged to express their views concerning their choices and preferences helping to build their Person Centred Plan and a successful package of support, ensuring they receive the service they want and need.

All actions demonstrate respect for the rights of people we support and for their decisions and choices.

We can help to support people achieve their personal outcomes in relation to managing their daily life. This could include support to manage money, use transport, keep their home clean, help prepare meals and other important life skills, community mapping and attend school, college or work. We also assist people to access mainstream and specialist services and agencies that promote their health and wellbeing, such as hydrotherapy, physio etc.

We help individuals connect with others with whom they have shared interests such as horse riding, dance and drama groups and other leisure activities.   We encourage people to value work and can help support service users to find and maintain employment, where this is appropriate and through person centred planning we support people to express their aspirations, develop new skills and to recognise and use their talents.

We act in a professional, co-operative and solution-focused manner at all times, demonstrating accountability for our actions whilst creating an environment that is vibrant and creative.
