Quality Matters: Managing medicines and reducing inequalities for people with learning disabilities – free training in Leeds and London

The Quality Matters initiative is running two free events focussing on practical solutions to the challenges of working together across health and social care:

Managing medicines: working together to get support right – 19th March – London

This event will bring together colleagues from across the health and social care sectors to explore how we can better work together to improve the lives of people who receive medicines support.

It will give you the chance to hear from and have conversations with different people from a range of organisations and to think about how you can deliver better services by working together.

The event will concentrate on practical, solution-focused ways of working together, bringing together questions, issues and goals from across health and social care:

  • medicines optimisation initiatives to reduce cost, over-prescribing and errors
  • avoiding unnecessary hospital admissions due to medicines or prescribing errors
  • ensuring effective and personalised medicines reviews
  • improving wellbeing and quality of life for people receiving medication support
  • confidently providing medication support safely
  • ensuring person-centred medication reviews with a whole-life approach.

Healthy and happy: working together to reduce inequalities for people with learning disabilities – 31st March – Leeds

This event will bring together colleagues from across the health and social care sectors to explore how we can work better together to improve the lives of people with a learning disability who also have autism, complex needs, and/or display behaviour that may challenge.

It will give you the chance to hear from and have conversations with different people from a range of organisations and to think about how you can deliver better services by working together.

The event will concentrate on practical, solution-focused ways of working together, bringing together questions, issues and goals from across health and social care:

  • supporting successful transitions from inpatient settings to the community
  • avoiding unnecessary crisis admissions
  • supporting people growing older with learning disabilities and comorbidities.
  • enabling aspirational and independent lives
  • supporting successful living in the community
  • positive planning for the future to avoid crises and grow older well.
