Update on the Community Catalysts project in BANES

In the UK, there are hundreds of community micro-enterprises who offer different support and services. Often, they combine their talents or interests so there is everything from arts and crafts, hairdressing, animal care, and holistic therapies, to companionship, support with personal care, help around the home, and gardening – and this is just to give you an idea of what is on offer.

Community Catalysts launched in BANES last year and we now have 18 enterprises which have completed our Development Programme, and another 10 are being supported at the moment. The range of support they are offering in the community is very wide. From personal care to help at home, dance and fitness classes (including falls prevention), photography clubs, Nordic walking, bereavement counselling, pet walking and support, and companionship.

There is a project currently underway in Bath & North East Somerset to help local people set up their own community micro-enterprise. Your local Community Catalyst, Michael Auton, is available to assist you with everything you need. In partnership with BANES Council, you can access a free development programme to help make your enterprise dream come true. We understand that everyone works differently and so are flexible around your everyday life – our support will be tailored to you.
